With a rise in recent years in the number of students seeking mental health services, an increase in cheating behavior in school, and students' consistent worry about academic achievement, we feel it is time to bring the community together to address and counter problems associated with academic stress.
Friday's event will be a free plenary session open to the public, and will include a panel discussion with three stidents at different points in their education. Saturday's event will be a full day of workshops for selected school teams.
On Friday, speakers will include:
- Denise Clark Pope, PhD, co-founder of Challenge Success/Stressed Out Students and lecturer at the Stanford School of Education
- David Elkind, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Child Development at Tufts University and the author of several books, including: The Hurried Child, Ties that Stress, and The Power of Play.
- Ken Ginsburg, M.D., Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Adolescent Medicine specialist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
