How Your Gift Helps Children

Gifts support programs critical to Packard's mission as a leading children's hospital. Make A Gift
Lucile Packard Children's Fund
Annual gifts to the Children's Fund help the Hospital meet its most pressing needs each year in areas not covered by insurance reimbursements, and in ways that benefit most patients.

Patient Care
Packard's top-notch staff is the reason we're such a highly ranked children's hospital, and your gifts support the work of our dedicated doctors and nurses. Your contributions also help fund residency and fellowship training for the next generation of pediatric leaders.

Research
Gifts make it possible for Packard physicians to collaborate with Stanford scientists from a wide variety of fields as they strive to turn the childhood diseases of today into mere memories to the children of tomorrow.

Family and Community Services
A hospital visit can be difficult for any child. Packard helps families cope by providing therapists, chaplains, play rooms, translators, and other support services. Gifts also allow Packard to reach out into communities where quality health care is not easily available.

Uncompensated Care
No child is ever turned away at Packard because of inability to pay for services. More than a third of our patients are covered under Medi-Cal or other government programs, which pay only a fraction of the full cost of care. Gifts help the Hospital make up this shortfall, ensuring care for any local child who needs our services.

Equipment/Facilities
The Hospital must invest in its facilities to care for the growing number of children who need our specialized services. Funding also equips clinics, operating rooms, patient rooms, and other facilities with the newest technologies and equipment.

At Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, our responsibility to use your donations wisely is just as important to us as our commitment to children and their families. We direct 100 percent of your gift to hospital programs, and we are proud that our average cost per dollar raised is 16 percent, well below the industry standard of 25 percent and among the lowest of leading U.S. children's hospitals. Please note that Stanford University School of Medicine assesses a small fee on restricted gifts to cover infrastructure costs.
