Meet a Donor:
Bob and Anne Koenig
Bob and Anne Koenig’s two healthy children both were born at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Neither child had to be cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nor did they need any other specialized services. But for the Koenigs, deciding to give birth at Packard Children’s was an easy choice.
''We have a great sense of comfort knowing that if either of our children had health problems, we would be able to turn to the Hospital and be confident that we were getting the best pediatric care available on the West Coast,'' says Bob. ''We know it’s a big hospital and that there’s a lot going on, but it truly seems that every patient is important.''
The Koenigs express their support for the Hospital’s work by giving at the Circle of Hope level to the Children’s Fund each year. Like all Children’s Fund gifts, their donations can be used by Hospital leadership to fund pressing needs for programs throughout Packard. ''We contribute to the Children’s Fund because we like knowing that people with the most expertise are going to identify the most critical needs for funding,'' explains Bob.
The Koenigs also feel that exemplary care should be available to all children in the community, and they support the Children’s Fund to ensure that Packard Children’s will continue to be a resource for local children to receive the care they need.
''Seeing the level of services being provided at the Hospital is pretty impressive and sobering,'' Bob says. ''Anne and I support Packard Children’s because of what it is able to do for sick children, regardless of their means.''
