Dressed in his white lab coat and a crayon-colored tie, Cohen
joins about 30 bleary-eyed residents, some still in scrubs, as they
load up on bagels and coffee for the daily Morning Report. Today's
topic: mental health and advocacy. For Cohen and many others in
the room, it's clearly a frustrating subject. As resident Matthew
Musick, MD, explains, more than one in five children has a mental
health disorder, yet there's a nationwide shortage of child psychiatrists
and inpatient facilities, and many families have difficulty convincing
their insurance companies or Medicaid to pay for mental health services.
