Santa Clara County Supervisors Commend Children's Health FoundationResolution cites work in preventing child abuse, neglect Nov. 7, 2007 Contact: Eileen Walsh, vice president and director of communications, (650) 736-2881; eileen.walsh@lpfch.org PALO ALTO – The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors yesterday recognized the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health for its "commitment, leadership and assistance" on behalf of children and families in Santa Clara County. At its Nov. 6 meeting, the board passed a resolution acknowledging the foundation's contribution of more than $3 million over the last several years to local agencies that work to protect children and families from abuse and neglect, and to strengthen families. The supervisors also noted that the foundation has been a "key player" in creating systemic change in how child welfare work is carried out in the county, and in promoting the Safely Surrendered Baby Law. The citation also recognized the foundation's work on behalf of the county's Youth Leadership Program, which helps young people make healthful life choices. "We're grateful for this recognition, which is a tribute to the
diligent and innovative work of our community partners in public and private
agencies throughout Santa Clara County," said David Alexander, MD,
foundation president and CEO. "We have been honored to support their
efforts on behalf of children at risk of abuse and neglect." About the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health
