A new report prepared by Mathematica Policy Research examines the idea of enhancing care coordination by creating a statewide health care information portal that would integrate the administrative functions of the California Children’s Services (CCS) and Medi-Cal programs with the capability to confirm patient eligibility and submit service authorizations. The portal could help physicians identify services their patients have received and the providers of those services. The report, commissioned by the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, includes examples of portals from North Carolina and New York State.
