Influencing Public and Policy Discourse by Amplifying the Voices of CYSHCN

Purpose

California Health Report brings awareness to critical issues that families of children and youth with special health care needs face, which can inform societal and policy conversations. This grant will continue support reporting on issues facing CYSHCN and their families, including a feature column written by their family journalist. To advance health equity, they will partner with Mandarin- and Spanish-language media partners to produce stories specific to those communities, as well as convene a panel of health equity experts to consult on articles. Partnerships with ethnic media outlets will result in more inclusive reporting on CYSHCN in California and has the potential to support and strengthen legislative advocacy efforts.
